Therapeutic Community

A therapeutic community is a participative, group-based approach to long-term mental illness, personality disorders, and drug addiction. It is a structured, psychologically informed environment where social relationships, daily structure, and activities are designed to promote health and well-being. In a therapeutic community, the community itself serves as the primary therapeutic instrument. These communities are often small, and residents have significant involvement in decision-making and running the unit.
